Recirc Mod: The Recirc Mod extends the efficiency and performance of the skimmer, all that the included Sedra needlewheel pump does is recirculates water inside the skimmer. When you do this you will have to come up with a new way to introduce water to the skimmer. You can do this with either a drain from your display tank or a feed pump. I recommend a feed pump as it is easier to regulate the amount of water flowing through the skimmer. The recirc mod allows you to control the dwell time of the water and air mixture inside the skimmer.

If you use the drain from your display tank, you will need a Uniseal that matches the size of your drain, this is typically 1 inch.

If you use the feed pump, I would recommend using a barbed fitting for the side of your skimmer, this allows you to easily connect your feed pump to the skimmer.

Either way, you want to run only 150-200 gph through the skimmer.

Gate Valve Mod: The Gate Valve Mod makes tuning your skimmer easier and allows you to be more precise in your adjustments. One of the most important features of the Gate Valve Mod is the ability to direct where your water re-enters your sump. This is important if your skimmer is located close the edge of your sump. You can adjust the skimmer without getting your hands wet too.
